I decided to read the book 7 Secrets of Highly Successful Kids first. Ty gets to read it next. I discovered that the secrets aren’t about money, it’s about being successful in other ways.
#1 Choose a good role model.
There were three stories in this chapter. My favourite story was about Rosalie Bigras, age 9. Her uncle Dan was her role model. It was my favorite story in this chapter because it is about her working with her uncle in a recording studio.
#2 Be Organized
There were 3 stories in this chapter too. My favorite was John MacDonald’s story. He is age 12. He is a very busy student and talks about how many things he does and says he has to stay organized. It was my favorite because John gets to do science experiments in the Microbiology Building at the university.
#3: Make the Most of What You Got
My favourite story in this chapter is Chelsey MacDonald’s, age 11. She lives next to a ski hill and loves to ski. She has been doing it for many years and is very good at it. Her dad has only seasonal work so they don’t have a lot of money. She and her family volunteer a lot and she does lots of sports. She has learned to make the most of what she has.
#4: Stick with it and Try Your Hardest.
My favourite story in this chapter is David Armstrong, age 11. It is my favourite because it is about art and a magic show and how he stuck with it even though he made mistakes.
#5: Don’t Be Afraid to Try New Things.
My favorite story in this chapter is Sam Friedman, age 12. It is my favorite because it is about Scouts and I’m in Cubs which is part of Scouts too. It was the first time Sam joined Scouts and it was new for him. And Sam likes Goosebumps books. So do I.
#6: Be a Loyal Friend
My favourite in this chapter is Cassandra MacPhee, age 12. In this story Cassie asked the teacher if she could throw a surprise going away party for a girl in the class. She got everyone involved and made a lot of new friends.
#7: Be A Team Player.
My favourite story in this chapter is Lauren Tonnenbaum, age 12. It is my favourite because it is about gymnastics team and how they help each other. And I think gymnastics is cool.
Overall I like 7 Secrets of Highly Successful Kids because it’s about things that you would like to do. Reading about it makes me what to do them. It’s like investing in yourself. I think it is important to do all these things because it makes you a better person. I like the stories of being organized the best and I think it is important to keep your room clean so people don’t trip.
